What is a flooded atomiser coil and how do I avoid it from happening?

A flooded atomiser coil is one where the cotton has over-saturated, to the point where it can’t absorb any more eLiquid, and this causes the excess eLiquid to leak into the centre air hole.
eLiquid that has flooded into the air hole is difficult to vaporise due to its minimal contact with the heating element (coil). This poses the risk of drawing eLiquid instead of vapour, up the air hole whilst using your iBreathe eCigarette. The sound of liquid slurping whilst taking a draw is often the sign that your atomiser coil has flooded. If you continue to take a draw, you run the risk of eLiquid getting into your mouth. This can be harmful, especially if your eLiquid contains nicotine.

2 steps you can take to avoid flooding your atomiser coil
  • Fill your eCigarette tank with an adequate amount of eLiquid, just enough so that you’re able to finish it. The general rule is, don’t fill up more than you can finish. Failing to do so will result in the eLiquid sitting in the cotton for long durations, increasing the chances of it leaking into the atomiser coil’s air hole and flooding.
  • If your eCigarette is filled with eLiquid, try to use it regularly. By leaving it unused and idle for long durations, the cotton inside of the atomiser coil will slowly absorb more and more eLiquid, to the point where it becomes excessive, causing it to leak into the air hole and around the outside of your tank.
How to clean up your flooded atomiser coil

Get plenty of tissue, wrap it around the outside of your eCigarette tank and hold it tight. Now gently blow into the mouthpiece. Doing so will push eLiquid down the air hole and in an outwardly direction, forcing it out of the tank and into the tissue.
